My life during March was nothing short of a rollercoaster. Good and not so good. Full of opportunity and unknowns. Because of all of these things, I’ll keep this one short for my own mental bandwidth and because getting back to life is much more important at this time. I’ll be honest. I didn’t really want to write this one an hour-and-a-half before it’s meant to go out. However, in the light of recent events, my best way to feel grounded is to do things in my control. I’m sure all of you would have understood if I skipped this month’s newsletter when I explain what’s going on, but I needed to write this for myself. It’s also because all of you have so kindly signed up for it. (Thank you.) To start off, I’m not sharing any of this in a self-serving way. The last thing I ever want is pity, but what I’m about to share is heavy and incredibly real. I write these newsletters to get information to you all, but I also want to read them (in tandem with my other social media) as a blog. Forgive me if I’m sharing too much. My dad had a stroke on March 29th. At the time of writing this, he is doing alright, moving all of his limbs and communicating to us through typing on his phone. He’s incredibly lucky to be at the point he is right now, but there is an entire journey left to be had. It’s nice to be back home in the Rio Grande Valley to support him and my mom, though it is difficult given the circumstances. Either way, though, we press on. He is incredibly resilient. I’m not even just saying that because he’s my dad, but I say that because I’ve seen him go through so many things in life. He always comes out stronger on the other side. Let’s hope for the best. All of the following announcements are shared in a tentative light, because I simply don’t know what’s going to happen. Onward.
