June In Review

After the movie that was May, June was much more toned down: full of little episodes here and there.

We spent time catching up with very dear friends, including fellow new-ish Austinites Bella Scotti and Lucas Garner, the incredibly creative and intuitive Hila Plitmann and absolute bestie and collaborator the Allison Davis.

In the middle of the month, I revived and revised a forgotten work of mine called Doppelgänger for soprano saxophone and clarinet. You can listen to that new piece here.

Near the end of the month, we traveled to San Francisco to celebrate in long-time collaborator Kaitlin Bove’s wedding ceremony! While in Cali, we enjoyed spending lots of time with friends Jennifer Jolley and Gregory Tentler (also my NYC hosts in May) both at the wedding reception and at the San Francisco Symphony.

After the wedding festivities, Iris and I enjoyed a short vacation for her birthday! In those following three days, we:

• saw the Pacific Ocean (Iris’s first time!) and walked Ocean Beach in 60º weather

• went to Apple Park Visitor’s Center (I’m totally not a fanboy /s)

• drove around the entire Bay Area (what a dream!)

• ate delicious food at Dingles Public House, Ruby’s, and lastly at Aliment for Iris’s birthday dinner!

And I vlogged nearly all of it with my new DJI Osmo Pocket 3. That video is coming soon to my youtube channel! Yes, I’m becoming a vlogger and getting back to creating content. More on that next month (I hope)!

A New Video Game Soundtrack!

On this new segment, I’d love to remind y’all of past projects and works I’ve done! On this installment, I want to remind you all of my new soundtrack for the newly released Stolen Realm Survivors video game!

Just after releasing the first game and soundtrack in 2024, composer and friend Jennifer Jolley asked me if I could take the reins and take some of her music for the original game and dress it up in a symphonic metal outfit. I built upon her previous tracks with all-new interludes and wrote entirely new menu music, inventory music, and boss music.

Thanks go out to Jenn and her brothers (the developers) for asking me to create the music for this game.

Performance and Concert Updates

Because it’s summer, I don’t have performances to shoutout! However, this is the perfect opportunity to incorporate my music into your concert or recital programs! I have been hard at work writing music for upcoming premieres in the Fall, and I’d love to work with you and your students!

Welcome to “Now Playing,” where I share the things I’m listening to right now.

• I have been enjoying listening to Dani Howard’s album titled Orchestral Works, recorded by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. What caught my ear at first was her piece titled Arches.

• I have also enjoyed getting to learn more about composers Harry Sdraulig of Sydney, Australia and Sophia Hurst of the United Kingdom via instagram! Go follow them and listen to their music!

July Happenings and Beyond

As I hinted before, I am looking to jump back into creating content about composing, conducting, traveling, and more! This will include both short form and long form media in the form of improvisations, piece breakdowns, virtual program notes, and other supplemental materials to my works. Be sure to follow along here.

But for now, I’m going to continue writing new music for new collaborators over this long weekend! Stay cool, my friends!
